Fall Maintenance for Your Vehicle

To keep your vehicle performing at its best, regular seasonal maintenance is a must. If you haven't taken care of your vehicle's fall maintenance yet, you can still get it done. Rotorhead Lubes in Brunswick has some tips to help you get started.

Battery Maintenance

Your vehicle's battery is extremely important because without a working battery your car isn't going anywhere. Batteries should be replaced every three to four years, but if you don't know how old your battery is, you can get it tested. It's important to get the battery replaced on time because they don't give much of a warning before they stop working. This is especially true in the fall and winter when the cold weather is even harsher on you battery.

Check Your Tires

Tire pressure tends to change a lot depending on road conditions and temperatures. As the days get colder, you tire pressure will likely get lower. A good way to remember to check your tire pressure is by checkin it every time you put fuel in your vehicle. Get to know the recommended tire pressure for your vehicle and take the necessary steps to maintain it there. Remember that having the wrong tire pressure can waste fuel or make driving conditions more dangerous. Don't forget to check on your spare as well. Having it at the right pressure and being sure it's ready for use will be extremely helpful if you get a flat.

Maintain Visibility

As we get deeper into fall and closer to winter, it's likely that weather conditions are changing. Be ready for storms and lowered visibility by changing your windshield wiper blades. Old, dry or cracked wiper blades can leave you without the ability to see the road during a storm. Since the sun sets earlier in the fall, you will likely be doing more driving in the dark. Check your lights and make sure they're all working. Your vehicle's defroster should also be in working order. Fogged up windows are inevitable in this weather, but your defroster will help you get rid of the fog and help you see the road ahead of you.
